DTEC - Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre

Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Center (DTEC) is an initiative developed under the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority project that aims to make starting a new business in Dubai as simple as possible.

For technology startups and entrepreneurs looking for flexible co-working or office space. Dtec has it all, including 100 percent business ownership, visa processing, 24/7 access, high-speed wifi, and a variety of unique meeting and event rooms. It helps you to establish and build your business in the vibrant environment of Dubai’s young community. It features both commercial and residential areas, allowing people to work and live in the same place.


There are various kinds of allocations available in the DTEC free zone, and it is up to you to decide where to operate.

They are as follows:

  • Flexi desk – bring your laptop, find a vacant desk, and get to work.
  • Fixed desk – you will be assigned a desk and a locker.
  • Private office – Set up your business with your own furnished or unfurnished office space ranging from 12 to 50 square meters.

After 5 years, you will be required to relocate to a full-time physical office in Silicon Oasis. Here, you will be able to have your own office of any size and, if necessary, hire additional staff.

Setting up a DTEC company

This registration process begins with an initial approval that determines whether your business model is eligible for the DTEC free zone.

You will need to provide the following:

  • Passport with UAE entrance stamp/copy of resident visa and Emirates ID.
  • Educational certificate of General Manager.
  • Business Plan.

Following the initial clearance, the presence of the company owner’s presence will be required for business registration. If this is not possible, the formalities might be completed on your behalf by a Power of Attorney.

It usually takes about 1-2 weeks to register a business in this free zone.

There are no restrictions to the nationalities, anyone can apply for the initial approval and try their chances.

UAE Residence Visas Corporate Amendments Liquidating a Company in Dtec Free zone

On request from Immigration, some nationalities may be required to present an attested birth certificate.

At the time of visa processing, the company manager must provide a legalized educational degree.

The company manager must have a UAE residence visa. He/She can apply for the visa at DTEC or anywhere else in the UAE.

Some of the amendments will require the presence of the company owner/general manager.

You can amend:

  • Name of the company and business activity.
  • Changes in the number of shareholders, managers, directors, and secretaries.
  • Shareholding structure.

Liquidation fees of 2,000 AED are collected at the time of license registration. It covers all costs related with a company's closure, including liquidation advertising.

This process takes roughly a month to complete the liquidation.

Prior to the company's cancellation, you must close all of the company's visas and present an audit report proving that you have no market liabilities.
